We held a welcome party for new students and Prof. Benjamin Watson, Prof. Miguel Nacenta, and Dr Sabah Boustila.

24 students from the University of Washington, Pennsylvania State University, University of California, San Diego, University of California, Riverside, York University, University of East Anglia, and University of Waterloo visited us. Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura gave a lecture, and after the lab tour, students enjoyed discussions with each other.

CHI Study Session was held and 4 students from our lab participated in it.

Prof. Benjamin Watson (North Carolina State University) and Prof. Miguel Nacenta (University of Victoria) , who are staying with us as a Visiting Professor, gave us talks.

Interdisciplinary ICT Research Center for Cyber and Real Spaces, where Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura concurrently serves as director, was introduced in NIKKEI Tech Foresight.

Interdisciplinary ICT Research Center for Cyber and Real Spaces is newly established and Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura will serve as the Director of the Center.

Mr. Tomohiro Mozumi, a fourth-year undergraduate student, received the 2022 President’s Award of Tohoku University.

Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura was awarded the title of Fellow of the Information Processing Society of Japan.

Oral examination of bachelor thesis was held in hybrid style(seminar room + online), and Mr. Ryo Ooka, Mr. Ryotaro Matsui, Ms. Tomohiro Mozumi and Mr. Satoki Kimura made an oral presentation.

INTERACTION2023 was held, and Yudai Tanaka and Yuki Tachibana, M1 students, gave demo presentations.

M1 student Yuki Tachibana won the Interactive Presentation Award (public vote).

Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura gave an invited talk “空間共有コミュニケーションを実現する技術動向　～豊かなコミュニケーションの実現～” within the special session at the 2023 IEICE General Conference．

A paper is accepted in proceedings of the ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (ACM CHI 2023). This paper will be presented at ACM CHI 2023 in April.

International Symposium on Human-Computer Interaction 2023 was held at the Research Institute of Electrical Communication (RIEC) as a hybrid symposium.

The RIEC Annual Meeting on Cooperative Research Projects was held. Many people related to our laboratory participated in the meeting and gave talks and poster presentations.
