About thirty students from the U.S. visited our laboratory as part of the Tohoku University STEM Summer Program 2025. After the lecture by Prof. Kitamura, our students gave a demonstration of their research and enjoyed exchanging ideas with them.
June 9-14, 2025
UBISS 2025 was held in Oulu, Finland, and from our laboratory, four members participated in Workshop A, two in Workshop C, and one in Workshop D.
UBISS is a globally recognized summer school in the field of ubiquitous computing. The event aims to provide participants with the opportunity to learn cutting-edge theory and practice through group work under the guidance of leading researchers in the field.
Each participant gained practical knowledge and skills that will be useful for their research, and was greatly inspired through interactions with researchers from around the world.

We visited the MediaFutures: Research Centre for Responsible Media Technology & Innovation at the Department of Information Science and Media Studies, University of Bergen, Norway, with a group of seven members.

At the 98th Annual Meeting of Japan Society for Occupational Health held at the Sendai International Center, Professor Kitamura gave an invited lecture titled “Virtual Reality Technology Changing the Future of Work and Its Environment” in Main Symposium 1, “Possibilities and Challenges of Industrial Health Expanding through Cutting-edge Technologies.”

Professor Yoshifumi Kitamura received the ACM SIGCHI Lifetime Service Award and served as a panelist at the CHI (Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems) 2025. The award ceremony was also held.
