RIEC International Symposium on Experience Design and Cognitive Science (The Second ACM SIGCHI Asian Symposium) was held.

Prof. Kiyoshi Kiyokawa of Nara Institute of Science and Technology (NAIST) visited us and gave us a talk.

The ACM SIGCHI & SIGGRAPH Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology (VRST) 2017 was held on November 8-10 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and achieved success with approx. 220 participants.

Former Visiting Professor Morten Fjeld (Chalmers University of Technology) served the VRST 2017 Symposium Chair, and Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura serves Steering Committee Chair of VRST.

ACM International Conference on Interactive Surfaces and Spaces 2017 was held at Brighton, UK. Mr. Yoshiki Kudo presented a demo．

And Assistant Prof. Kazuki Takashima served demo co-chairs in this conference.

We enjoyed Imoni party.

We held open lab on the same day of “Katahira Festival 2017” and “RIEC Open Lab 2017”.

Annual Conference of the Virtual Reality Society of Japan was held at Tokushima University, Mr. Ryo Sugawara presented paper and also made an oral presentation.

INTERACT 2017 was held by IFIP TC-13 at Mumbai, India. Mr. Kiyoshi Oka presented paper and also made an oral presentation.

And Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura gave a talk at Symposium on Asian HCI Research.

The meeting about how to apply interactive contents to media education was held.

Entertainment Computing2017, a IPSJ symposium was held at RIEC of Tohoku University. Mr. Kiyoshi Oka and Ms. Yuki Onishi demonstrated their work, and Mr. Shotaro Ichikawa also made an oral presentation. The demo presented by Ms. Yuki Onishi and the video presented by Mr. Shotaro Ichikawa received Best Demo Award and Best Video Award respectively.

Prof. Ehud Sharlin of University of Calgary, Canada, staying with us as a Visiting Procfessor gave us a talk.

Pfof. Patrick Finn of University of Calgary, Canada visited us and gave us a talk．

We had a Welcome & Farewell party for Pro.Ehud Sharlin, Dr. Weiquan Lu and two international students.

We demonstrated our work at the Open Campus of the Department of Electrical, Information and Physics Engineering, School of Engineering, Tohoku University.

16 students from University of Washington visited us as a part of the Science Summer Program.

Dr. Sabah Boustila, University of Strasbourg, France visited us and gave us a talk．

B4 students read and presented paper respectively as a part of the curriculum-based training

Dr. Maria Mannone, School of Music University of Minnesota Minneapolis, MN, United States, visited us and gave us a talk．

Dr. Soren Andersen of the University of Aberdeen (Visiting Associate Professor at RIEC Shioiri lab.) visited us.

Mr Kouichi Tamura gave a presentation at the domestic technical meeting on human interface.
