A “Training A” session was held in a hybrid format, in which fourth-year undergraduate students gave presentations on papers of their own choice. From our laboratory, Mr. Ryo Ooka, Mr. Ryotaro Matsui, Mr. Tomohiro Mozumi, and Mr. Satoki Kimura presented their papers.

Mr. Takuma Hagiwara, an alumnus of our laboratory, visited our laboratory with a person from his affiliated company.

The students gave a demonstration of their research to Mr. Hagiwara and his colleagues.

A master thesis review meeting was held in a hybrid format, and Mr. Taichi Tsuchida, a second-year student of the master’s course, gave a presentation from our laboratory.

We visited Prof. Nobuyuki Sakai’s laboratory (Graduate School of Arts and Letters, Tohoku University).

We held Welcome Party for the new members.

Three students from National Chung Cheng University visited our laboratory.

Dr. Masako Hayashi (Institute for Excellence in Higher Education, Tohoku University) visied our laboratory.

We demonstrated our reserch to Dr. Hayashi.

Commencement ceremony was held in hybrid style.

We had a farewell party online.

Oral examination of bachelor thesis was held in hybrid style(seminar room + online), and Mr. Ryota Gomi, Mr. Yudai Tanaka and Ms. Yuki Tachibana made an oral presentation.

IEEE VR 2022 was held online.
Mr. Kumpei Ogawa and Mr. Yukai Hoshikawa made oral presentations.
Mr. Yukai Hoshikawa also received Honorable Mention Best Conference Paper Award.

We held an online research exchange meeting with Dr. Benjamin Tag (University of Melbourne, Australia) and his students.

RIEC International Symposium on Human-Computer Interaction was held online.

Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura gave the Opening Keynote at the 3rd Yokohama Global MICE Forum, which was a hybrid forum held at Pacifico Yokohama.

SIGGRAPH Asia 2021 was held at Tokyo International Forum and online.
Pascal Chiu served as the SV Subchair (SVSC), and Maakito Inoue and Akito Iizuka joined as Student Volunteers and involved in the conference.

ACM VRST 2021 (The Symposium on Virtual Reality Software and Technology) was held at Osaka University Hall and online.
Associate Prof. Kazuki Takashima served as the Program Chair, and Assistant Prof. Kazuyuki Fujita served as the Communication Chair and Poster/Demo Chair. Ms. Yuki Onishi served as the Student Volunteer Chair, and 9 students joined as the Student Volunteers involved in the organization of the conference.
Mr. Pascal Chiu made oral presentation and Tatsuki Takano made demo presentation. Mr. Keito Uwaseki received Best Student Volunteer Award.

Prof. Yoshifumi Kitamura served as the VRST steering committee chair.

We had an online laboratory mutual visit with University of Calgary Interaction Lab.

Mr. Yoshiki Kudo made an oral presentation at ISS 2021 (ACM Interactive Surfaces and Spaces Conference). He also received Best Paper Award.
